Weekly Watercolour Courses

Ruth runs four, 2 hour watercolour lessons a week. The courses run for 12 weeks but there is an option of following a 6 week course.

The watercolour course suits both the student who needs structure and the student who likes some freedom in their painting.

Ruth demonstrates every 2 to 3 weeks. Most students join in with these step - by - step demonstrations but they are not compulsory. In between the demonstration weeks, there are ‘free weeks’ where the student can practice a previously taught watercolour technique or ‘Do their own thing.’

Ruth has a list of suggested materials and all materials can be bought in the Cedar Farm gallery shop, where the student can enjoy a 10% discount.

Vouchers are available for these courses.

Reviews
'After retiring, I decided to get my paints out having not used them for some time. In the local press, I read about Ruth Kidd's class for watercolours at Cedar Farm Galleries.
I look forward to going every week and I don't like to miss. We complete a large variety of subjects to paint in a very friendly atmosphere.
Ruth is an inspiration to us all. I recommend anyone interested to have a try.

'I had a stroke many years ago and this left my right side very weak. About ten years ago, my husband, for Christmas, bought me some art materials. and said, 'Now go and find someone to teach you' Well fortunately... I found Ruth Kidd. She has been an inspiration to me, giving me confidence and constructive help. I have benefited enormously and now produce paintings that I am very proud of. My friends and family love recieving my painted  Christmas cards every December!
In the Wickerfish class, there are 14 of us and everyone is so friendly and helpful. We have lots of laughs in the 2 hours.
Long may my health continue so I can attend the Wickerfish Art Studio at Cedar Farm.

I approached retirement with some trepidation. How would I occupy my time? My days had previously been so busy. A friend asked if I would like to join a watercolour class. I had never painted previously, although I had enjoyed sketching. I decided to give it a go.

The pleasure I have derived fom painting is indescribable. Once you learn to relax, the most beautiful and interesting effects can be achieved, mostly by design but often by accident.

Using watercolour can be frustrating but more often than not is very rewarding.

The lessons have given me confidence to paint at home. What better way to spend a cold winters afternoon, than with your paints, a cup of coffee and a CD of your favourite artist?
