Drawing and Painting Class

Ruth runs one Drawing and Painting class a week. The course run for 12 weeks but there is an option of following a 6 week course.

The programme suits both the student who needs structure and the student who likes some freedom in their painting.
Ruth demonstrates different drawing techniques, media, surfaces etc every 2 to 3 weeks. Most students join in with these step -by -step demonstrations but they are not compulsory. In between the demonstration weeks, there are ‘free weeks,’ where the student can practice a previously taught technique, or work from the still life, which Ruth sets up.

Still Life is an essential way of improving everyone’s drawing ability and this course is aimed at the student who wants to draw from 1st hand observation, rather than from photographs etc.

Ruth has a list of suggested materials and all materials can be bought in the Cedar Farm gallery shop, where the student can enjoy a 10% discount.

Vouchers are available for all Ruth’s courses.

Review

After 21 years of teaching, I left the profession to concentrate on
family and home life, and to fulfil personal ventures. One of these
ventures is drawing and painting, A life-long hobby that had taken a
back seat for too long!
Ruth's watercolour painting and drawing classes are relaxing and very
rewarding. She gives good and easy to follow instructions and guidance.
She teaches basic techniques in a variety of ways and is also willing
to guide you through personal projects. Through her help and
encouragement I have produced some lovely pieces of work that now hang
in my home. Everyone in the classes are friendly and I greatly look
forward to my sessions every week.
Thank you Ruth.
